Founded in Virginia in 1827 by Claiborne Rice Mason, Mason and Hanger was originally known as the Mason Syndicate. By 1885, the firm had re-located to Kentucky where it did major work for the Defense Department, National Aeronautics & Space Administration and the Atomic Energy Commission. Major projects include Carquinex Bridge, Michoud Assembly Facility, Grand Coulee Dam, Boston Traffic Tunnel and more. Project files contain the full range of documents relating to each project from initial bid to completion, including drawings & blueprints, construction logs, progress reports, payroll, photographs, correspondence, and legal documents. The collection also includes farm records from Silas Mason and Horatio Mason.
