Chautauqua Lecture Series

Chatauqua Lecture series poster, 2013..

Chautauqua. You might see this word floating around campus every now and then. A professor may tell you to go to a Chautauqua lecture for extra credit. But what is Chautauqua? The Chautauqua Institute goes back to the 1870s, but the lecture series is now entering its 18th year at Eastern. Each year, EKU’s Chautauqua series has a different theme. All Chautauqua lectures aim to refresh the mind and renew curiosity by exploring a single idea from multiple angles. For example, some lectures are held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and Black History Month. Other lectures may focus on philosophy and religion topics. Speakers bring their ideas to students, and questions and civil discourse, are always welcome.
