Homecoming Program, 1991

Like many other colleges and universities across the country, Homecoming is a celebratory and exciting highlight in the year.  In the United States, “homecoming” dates back to the late 19th century and has its origins in fall athletics events and banquets held in celebration of welcoming alumni back to their college campuses.  For Eastern, the Homecoming tradition began in the 1930s. Eastern’s early homecoming celebrations included a banquet, a parade, a dance, and, of course, a football game. Many of these things are still part of Homecoming today.
