Roberta Dearborn Mitchell Registration Card

Registration Card, 1925.

You’re in the auxiliary gym in Alumni Coliseum in August. There is no air conditioning, and you’re working up a sweat just standing in place. The people in line ahead of you sway in the heat. You think to yourself, all this to register for classes? Before EKU modernized registration with computers in the early 1980s, students had to register for classes by paperwork. This process was long, and might have been more confusing than it is today. Even after the introduction of computer registration, students had trouble due to slow technology. So the next time you’re confused about registering, don’t sweat it. There’s a long line of students before you who were, too.
