During the 1966-67 school year, Eastern formed the All-Campus Entertainment Committee to bring live entertainment to the students on campus. On April 20, 1967 this committee allowed EKU to host one of the most popular bands at the time, the Beach Boys. At 8 o’clock, students paid $2 and filed into the Alumni Coliseum to watch the band perform, but before they played on stage you could find them playing baseball out on the field. While playing ball Bruce Johnston, bass guitarist, told the Eastern Progress that, "This is what we miss most; the chance to lead normal lives and enjoy the things other people are able to take part in.”
