YWCA Program

YWCA program for new students, 1941.

How much have organizations changed on campus since 1906? Not much. Organizations then and now provide a place for us to meet new people with similar interests. This Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) pamphlet is similar to pamphlets we see today. In this September 1941 edition, the YWCA welcomes incoming freshmen girls. Inside are tips for adjusting to school and details on what to expect. Members were given information on local churches and the available transportation to those churches. The YWCA also offered their members a spring and fall retreat to different camps. In 1941, the fee for attending the fall retreat was only fifty cents! EKU no longer has a YWCA chapter, but clubs and organizations across campus still pull us together in our mutual hobbies and interests.
