OBITUARY
Sunset and evening star
And one clear call for me,
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
For though from out our home of time and place,
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.
A busy life came to a close Wednesday, December
15, 1982, when Wade Shearer Smith was called to his
heavenly home from the Glenway Lodge Nursing home.
Wade was born and reared in Madison County
and the son of the late John Samuel and Ida Shearer
Smit9. He confessed Christ at the age of 12 and
united with the Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, Kirksville
Kentucky. Wade lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, Davenport,
Iowa, Pittsburg, Penn. and finally made Winchester
his home in 1939. He was very industrious; he was a
plummer by trade and his work stood out for itself
in such a way that he often had more calls than he
could fill. He was highly respected by the people
for whom he worked. He was a good neighbor, a lawabiding citizen, a man who knew God and a regular
church attender. He was a man who will be greatly
missed in the community in which he lived.
Cherishing his memory are a son, Richard Louis
Smith, Denver, Colo. Two sisters, Mrs. Anna M. Blanton,
Winchester, Mrs. Beatrice Huguely, Richmond, Ky.; Five
neices, Mrs. Ida L. Steel, Mrs. Iva Jean Williams,
Mrs. Rosie P. Miller and Mrs. Monie Francis of
Winchester. Tua nephews, Charles S. Miller, Winchester,
and Jewell S. Miller Sr., Lexington, Ky. Several
great neices and nephews. Two brothers-in-law,
Bradley Bassett, Winchester and Elmer Huguely, Richmond, Ky. and a host of other relatives. Also six
step children.
Thus star by star declines
Till all are passed away,
As morning high and higher shines
To a purer and more perfect day.
