My Dear Husband,
I thought I would write you a short letter to know why you nor Ellen either did not write. I answered your letter as soon as it was received, but have not had an answer to mine. I want to see you so much that I feel badly when I can get no letters. We are all getting along very well and have very good health. Anne has been and is still fretful from a bad boil that she has had on her forehead but it bursted yesterday and she is better. How does Ellen like staying there. and How is dear little Mattie. Tell Ellen to write, she must take good care of Mattie. I hope Patsey and family are well. give my love to them. There is no ____ ______ Richmond gets more and more beautiful each day. We are all talking of going to Lexington to live this winter unless you come before then. Miss Sue is going and wants Becky & myself to go with her. All your friends send love to you and Ellen. Write soon give my love to Patsey & family ____ Ellen and Kiss Mattie for me. Tell Ellen to write soon and often. Becky sends love.
