The Coordinator of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women is Dr. Martha
Mullins. All coaches are members of the faculty in the department
of physical Education for Women.
How is the athletic program organized?

Women's varsity sports are a part of the University's Intercollegiate Athletics program. The women's program is under the
jurisdiction of the Kentucky Women's Intercollegiate Conference
(KWIC) and the Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women
(AIAW). State., regional and national tournament s are sponsored by
these organizations.
What is the purpose of the women's athletic program?

The program is directed toward providing competitive opportunity
for skilled young women., and toward the preparation of leaders for
girls' and women's sports.
Who is eligible to be on a team?
Any

full time undergraduate woman student.

How do you make a team?

Selection is made by the coach on the basis of performance during
try-outs., on physical condition., and on the amount of time the student
has available for the sport.
What about team practice time?

Teams practice 3-5 days per week, usually in the late afternoon
or early evening. Practice is begun 4 to 6 weeks prior to the season's
opening. Teams are not organized in the off-season.
