COLORADO SEMINARY

January 28, 1976

As you know, AIAW will be sponsoring a national women's ski championship
in March of 1977 . As a member of the AIAW National Ski Committee, it is
my responsibility to establish representation at the regional level which
will enable the Committee to design a championship format that will meet
the needs of the membership.
I am writing to request' that you, as Regional Representative , appoint,

request or elect an individual from your region who will be responsible
for coordinating women's intercollegiate ski racing within your region .
The responsibilities of this individual would entail the fol l owing:
1.
2.

3.

To serve as a liason to the AIAW National Ski Committee in
formulating policies governing participation in that sport
To evaluate AIAW policies for that sport and make reconunendations to the Committee for changes and revisions
To establish regional procedures for qualifying fo r
national events

It is important that this individual be knowledgeable about ski racing
and that she/he plan to continue coaching within your region through
the 1976-77 school year.
I am hoping to solidify all regional ski coordinator appointments by
March 1, 1976. May I hear from you before that date? Would you please

be sure to forward me the name, school address , home address and phone
numbers of your appointee?
The success of the 1977 AIAW National Ski Championship will be totally
dependent on the effectiveness of our representation at the regional
level . I am confident that your appointment will be instrumental in
enabling our Committee to offer a successful championship. Thank you
for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from
you in the near future .
Sincerely ,

/j,£7/

U NIVERSITY OF D ENVER

I have not yet received a response from you
in regard to correspondence dated January 27, 1976,
in which I asked to hear from you concerning
the appointment of a ski coordinator for your
region.

As I indicated to you at that time , I had hoped
to solidify all appointments by March 1, 1976.
It is extremely important that these appointments
are finalized as soon as possible in order
that we can begin working on the 1977 AIAW
Ski Championship Format.

May I please hear from you at your earliest
convenience? Thank you for your attention
to this matter.

Sincerely,

Diane Wendt
AIAW National Ski Committee Member
